Parsing as Dynamic

چکیده

In this chapter we develop a new approach to parsing through the re-cursive, model-theoretic interpretation of expressions representing linguistic knowledge. We argue that in particular the dynamic variant of model-theoretic semantics can be useful, which approaches interpretation in a constructive way. On the theoretical side, we develop this approach by integrating feature structures in an existing formal logical language, deened and implemented for computational semantic purposes. The resulting language, called GEL, allows us to represent semantic as well as syntactic knowledge. In particular , we can represent grammatical rules as well as the phrase structures that they generate. Whereas a phrase-structure rule is traditionally viewed procedurally, as a recipe for phrase building, and a rule in the parsing-as-deduction approach is viewed declaratively, as a proposition which is true when the conditions for building the phrase are satissed, a rule in GEL is best viewed as a proposition in dynamic semantics: it can be evaluated recursively, not to true or false, but to the minimal changes in the model, needed to make the proposition true. The viability of this idea has been demonstrated by an implementation of DPSG chart parsing and an emulation of HPSG parsing.

بررسی مقایسه‌ای تأثیر برچسب‌زنی مقولات دستوری بر تجزیه در پردازش خودکار زبان فارسی

In this paper, the role of Part-of-Speech (POS) tagging for parsing in automatic processing of the Persian language is studied. To this end, the impact of the quality of POS tagging as well as the impact of the quantity of information available in the POS tags on parsing are studied. To reach the goals, three parsing scenarios are proposed and compared. In the first scenario, the parser assigns...

An improved joint model: POS tagging and dependency parsing

Dependency parsing is a way of syntactic parsing and a natural language that automatically analyzes the dependency structure of sentences, and the input for each sentence creates a dependency graph. Part-Of-Speech (POS) tagging is a prerequisite for dependency parsing. Generally, dependency parsers do the POS tagging task along with dependency parsing in a pipeline mode. Unfortunately, in pipel...

برچسب‌زنی خودکار نقش‌های معنایی در جملات فارسی به کمک درخت‌های وابستگی

Automatic identification of words with semantic roles (such as Agent, Patient, Source, etc.) in sentences and attaching correct semantic roles to them, may lead to improvement in many natural language processing tasks including information extraction, question answering, text summarization and machine translation. Semantic role labeling systems usually take advantage of syntactic parsing and th...

Practical Dynamic Grammars for Dynamic Languages

Grammars for programming languages are traditionally specified statically. They are hard to compose and reuse due to ambiguities that inevitably arise. PetitParser combines ideas from scannerless parsing, parser combinators, parsing expression grammars and packrat parsers to model grammars and parsers as objects that can be reconfigured dynamically. Through examples and benchmarks we demonstrat...

Dynamic Programming of Partial Parses

The last years have seen a renewal of interest in applying dynamic programming to natural language processing. The main advantage is the compactness of the representations, which is turning this paradigm into a common way of dealing with highly redundant computations related to phenomena such as non-determinism. Natural language parsing adds another challenge, since grammatical information is o...

Neural Greedy Constituent Parsing with Dynamic Oracles

Dynamic oracle training has shown substantial improvements for dependency parsing in various settings, but has not been explored for constituent parsing. The present article introduces a dynamic oracle for transition-based constituent parsing. Experiments on the 9 languages of the SPMRL dataset show that a neural greedy parser with morphological features, trained with a dynamic oracle, leads to...
